to meet it.
You’re an artist because creating from your core
is who you are. It’s your identity.
It’s your heartbeat. Your oxygen.
The pulse that keeps the vibrant colors of your life alive.
Your best days are in the studio…
doing the work,
bringing the fire of your inner visions to life.
Those blazing, creativity-drenched moments
you wouldn’t trade for anything.
And yet, even the most devoted artist wanders through
seasons when shadows of doubt pester you.
When confidence drags along the studio floor.
Or your artistic sense of purpose feels muffled by the static
of everyday life.
And if that isn’t enough… sometimes your inner critic starts
chanting:
Maybe this isn’t as good as I think.
Maybe I need to go back for more training, figure out better posts,
look for a better gallery, or a magic wand I misplaced in 2023.
You suspect this voice could use a serious rewiring.
- A dysregulated nervous system
- Old conditioning
- The familiar feedback loop of, Oh right, that again!
But you also know that doubt, uncertainty and confusion are standard fare for creative people, so it’s not just you.
These might feel like personal flaws, but in the creative process they are features.
But here’s the thing:
knowing about the pattern doesn’t stop the inner critic from putting
a boot on your neck, does it?
Just because you mentally understand that other artists struggle, that other
artists second-guess themselves, this doesn’t mean your heart or your body
got the memo.
when so many paths seem possible.
Or perhaps old roadblocks, once conquered, have
circled back again, because apparently you missed
an off ramp.
Maybe the aliveness you love,
when you’re working, seems to be
losing some of its shimmer.
smudging under the pressure to show up and show off.
But that doesn’t make it easier when you’re …
A Beginning Artist on the verge of stepping out with your vision,
while calming your beating heart
A Mid-career Artist with accolades, yet sensing there’s more
right under the surface… and your patience is getting edgy
An Established Artist who feels silly admitting your spark feels dimmer,
especially when your work seems better than ever,
but then you wonder… is it?
Or does the evolution of your reliable artistic fingerprint
need to make some new, good noise?
Everyone’s creative edge is shaped by the container
of their artistic practice. This is not news.
Except, these days, the frantic rhythm of our times is an
outsized container we’re all stewing in:
— AI anxiety
— The authenticity crisis via oversaturated feeds
— The relentless pressure to perform, post, and prove your worth
— The cultural mandate to be consistent and productive at all costs.
your mental well-being
your work/life balance
your health
your creative sanity
But the greatest cost is to your creative spirit.
your creative spirit.
To the depth and range of your artistic promise.
To the soul-vitality your work offers our aching world.
the Artist Within,
can get your attention.
Maybe it’s time to take the pulse of your Internal Creative Landscape and reclaim the artistic sovereignty
your work already knows… even if you’re still catching up.
Maybe it’s time to find out…
Is something holding you back?
I’m offering an immersive series of one-to-one conversations.
with a grounded confidence.
When you take time to explore the inner landscape of your Artist Identity,
the familiar struggles of creative doubt or confusion become clues to the
invisible forces shaping your relationship with your work …
your self-value,
your self-trust,
and the intentional choices that quietly sustain it all.
Not all artists wrestle with doubt
or confusion.
But many sense something deep and vital in their art, and they want to know more.
These artists want to bring what is sensed and felt
closer to the surface, so they can…
Recognize it
Understand it
And learn how to bring
their art to the world
with grounded confidence.
When you make time and space to understand
the living, evolving dynamics
at the heart of your creative life,
your artistic practice becomes—organically—
more resilient and sustainable over time.
My highest intentions for you. . .
The greatest learning comes from
below the surface of your creative life.
So questions like the following can pull you closer to a confidence
grounded in heartfelt awareness.
- What allows me to trust my artistic practice, even when it feels uncertain?
- What is actually happening when I feel out of sync with my work?
- What exactly signals my artistic fingerprint. And how is it evolving now?
your deepest creative knowing as a lived, embodied experience.
Experience a growing trust in your artistic process, a sense that your work will
show you where to go next, even when the path feels murky.
Begin to feel the nourishing clarity of an ongoing conversation
between your art and your becoming.
More aligned with your
truest Artist Identity.
Less accidental.
Because—while accidental brilliance is delighful—your creative edge thrives
when artistic brilliance arises because you opened into awareness.
If these intentions color your world. . .
You’re very likely an artist who leans into life. . . no matter what.
Not every artist is ready to turn inward.
But those who are ready, know it.
if. . .
- You think better techniques or another level of skill mastery is key
- You want more training, better galleries, or viral posts to carry you forward
- You prefer tactical advice over exploring the deeper forces shaping your creative voice
- You think what’s holding you back gets resolved with fast results, guaranteed outcomes, or firecracker marketing
- You don’t care how personality patterns might be blocking your actual potential
- You aren’t interested in what’s beneath the struggle
- You are uncomfortable with the idea of creating alongside The Divine Mystery, or your version of
Goddess or God
Yes!
because. . .
- You feel most like yourself, and most alive, when
you’re creating - You understand the professional urgency of finding your artistic fingerprint, and you’re not sure you recognize the full range of what you already have
- You’re ready to work from the inside out, as well as
the outside in - You sense something waiting for you, a felt sense of artistic becoming hovering on your horizon
- You suspect there are a few limiting beliefs—still haunting you—who’ve overstayed their welcome
- You’re ready to discern helpful pressure from toxic pressure, so your creative sovereignty can align
with your internal authority - You can handle looking at how personality patterns might be blocking your actual potential. . . with raw honesty and safe vulnerability
- You can sense when you’re creating alongside the Divine Mystery, or your version of Goddess or God
This work is for artists willing to explore what’s underneath,
for those ready to bring vulnerable curiosity
and gut honesty into their artistic practice.
good trouble…
strengthen the brand, and boost the visibility of an artistic
practice.
They treat the ache as if it lives in isolation, like a wayward mark
that can be wiped away with the right cloth or YouTube video.
Then listen for what’s singing beneath it.
Because what looks like an outer problem is almost always
hooked into an inner origin, like a loose thread is hooked
into the whole sweater.
My work bridges both…
the outer tension you can name,
and the inner landscape quietly shaping it.
For over two decades, I’ve worked with artists who feel
something pulsing beneath their frustration: a hunch
that says it’s about something deeper than skill.
It’s a place–beyond tactics or a better plan–inside where personality
has built elegant defenses around what wants to flow
unguarded and alive.
This work is both tender and exacting.
It begins with what I call your creative cocoon:
a kind of sanctuary where the noisy “shoulds” fade,
so you can hear the patient, always available voice of your
Creative Self who’s been steady and waiting for your conscious attention.
In this space, you and I co-create. Together, we increase your flame
of aliveness..
but smaller than your soul would like.
Together, we bring the light of awareness to ways your
personality might be protecting what no longer needs protecting:
so you can create from the full voltage of the artist you truly are.
to what others overlook: the living, pulsing heart
of your relationship to your art.
When artists lose their way in creative uncertainty,
it’s rarely about skill or talent.
It’s because somewhere along the journey, their inner dialogue
between who they are and what they make gets tangled.
External voices grow louder than internal knowing.
Doubt slips in, trust slips out.
It’s a quiet heist the psyche pulls off when you’re not looking.
your Artist Within to speak up.
The one I call your Original Creative Self, the one who’s often waiting
in the shadow of daily demands.
Once you validate your internal, creative voice, a trifecta of trust returns:
Trust in your relationship to your artistic practice
Trust in the aliveness of your art
Trust in yourself
And when trust returns, everything shifts:
color, light, perspective, proportions.
All of these reorient around a renewed promise for you and your art.
What I never expected was a complete breakthrough that not only dispelled my deep-seated pessimism about whether or not I was an artist, but is now fueling the emergence of a new artistic fingerprint that will say, without hesitation, ‘Kadira Jennings!’
Coaching with Ariane has been a Godsend. I trust her implicitly to stand beside me, guiding me as I learn to discern where it is best to go at any given point.
I can’t recommend her coaching highly enough—she has helped me find hope, motivation and results. She is the best coach I have ever worked with.
~ Kadira Jennings, painter

Six months ago I entered the world as a full-time artist, optimistic and completely naive. Fortunately for me, in my second month as a full-time artist, I found Ariane! What a gift that turned out to be. Priceless!
My world had experienced a quake, and the ground under my feet was shifting rapidly. Ariane helped me to find faith in myself and solid ground during this time of change. It felt overwhelming at times, but Ariane’s instincts as to how much I could handle, and her knowledge of how to go about all of it, were
always spot on.
I will be able to draw on the knowledge that Ariane has given me for the rest of my art career.

Blake Ward’s Angel Aymelek
This work is different
because of how I’ve learned to listen:
I’m listening for the messages simmering beneath your valid, daily concerns. For the deep patterns of your artistic promise struggling beneath expectations and conditioning that never belonged to you
in the first place.
Over two decades, I’ve developed a sensitivity for what’s unfolding
behind the dominance of our personalities, where my deepest self intuits
the signals of your Creative Self.
This comes with a deep understanding that I need your permission
to cross any threshold. I’ll always ask, “I’m hearing something that
might be helpful. Would you like to hear more?”
as your Yes.
Sometimes, what arrives is a metaphor that feels as if it came tumbling from
your subconscious. Once, I spoke about bees and their droning. After a long
silence, the artist said, “How did you do that? I dreamed about bees last night.”
Other times, the metaphor doesn’t land. Which I love. Because then I get to ask
the artist, “What image comes up for you?”
And more often than not, your metaphor becomes the bridge, the exact image
opening the door between self-protection and self-permission.
kindness and
awareness without judgment.
I want you to feel witnessed at the level where your art actually lives.
Where we train your inner critic to only speak when it is spoken to, so it too
becomes your ally, which might be a shock to how it usually shows up.
My inner critic process is based on inclusion, not exclusion. On the reality
of wholeness where all parts,of ourselves are respected, listened to, and loved.
Our work is collaborative:
you bring your wisdom and lived experience. . .
And I bring my Listening Witness who tunes into your safe space,
so what’s gone unspoken can choose to breathe again.
Together, we listen for the deeper currents
shaping your Artist Identity, your art, and what
wants
to flow more freely.
Coaching with Ariane Goodwin has been a wonderful and enlightening surprise. She offers the best of everything: a creative organic process, insight, clarity, compassion, humor, and a razor edge listening skill that doesn’t miss a single important nuance and plays you back to yourself so clearly, it’s astonishing.
I was challenged creatively, spiritually and pragmatically.
I’ve already recommended her to three other professionals.
~ Raquel Ortiz, consultant
I greatly value this gift you are giving me. It goes far beyond a simple consultation and pushes into that generative realm of true dialog.

So much has been stirred up by our conversation today. I actually sense new connections being formed between previously separate ideas, leading outward to new ways of seeing and thinking.

Who is Ariane anyway?
I work with artists who want to hear what’s been whispering
below the surface of their creative life…
so uncertainty, doubt, or confusion turns into grounded confidence and ongoing trust in their practice.
You’re carrying the collective
Flag of Creativity
for all of us to follow.
For over two decades, I’ve embraced a landscape often skipped over by those who coach or mentor artists.
For me, it’s never about marketing work that doesn’t honor who you are as an artist. It’s not about re-branding your work. (OMG, branding! That term sets my hair on fire!)
This work is about whether your Artist Identity is alive and well while you’re making art, marketing art, and selling art.
You’re an artist…
light and color beyond what any brand could imagine.
One of the great joys of the visual arts is how you play against the corporate grain,
using structure to defy rules, and ingenuity to defy cubicles and templates.
Clarity allows intentional choices to rise straight from your untamed creative authority,
free from the online decrees nagging you to post, post, post, produce, produce, produce.
I worry about how much performance stress is thrown at you.
How the heart of your artistic practice begins to feel overwhelmed, quietly insecure,
even when the work is good. Really good.
old patterns, new ideas.
We live in a complete sensory world, yet we’re captured by flat screens. Online, we’re cut off
from the wholeness of our human experience where only audio and visual cues are available.
That’s a dangerously listing ship for a creative spirit. And I’m determined to help right it.
Retrospective careers for the very old, or the very dead.
Back then, artists were outsiders in their own profession.
Professional? Occasionally.
Career? That belonged to everyone outside the art-career ghetto.
I told artists, unequivocally…
You have as much right to a career as any doctor, lawyer, or teacher.
But first, you have to claim it.
Today, thank goodness, artists who imagine and want a career are the expectation,
instead of the exception.
And honestly, after decades of ignorance and neglect, I’m thrilled that art-career consciousness
finally took hold.
Yes,
I have a doctorate in Human Development and Creative Behavior.
Yes,
I wrote the first, and still today, the only defining book on artist statements.
Yes,
I’ve published in art and artist journals across the U.S. and Canada.
Yes,
I built the first art-career, professional conference of its kind for visual artists: the smARTist Telesummit.
Yes,
I’ve worked one-to-one with hundreds of artists at every stage of their careers for twenty-four years.
But what I care about most is this…
That artists have customized tools to understand the psychological, emotional, and nervous-system dynamics shaping their creative life; so their choices are grounded, intentional, and resilient.
Our work looks at ways to keep your artistic promise from
tripping over caution, on your way to thriving with curiosity.
Artists who work with me are willing to dive deep because they know my safety net is lined with kindness.
They’re ready to work with the foundation, not just polish the surface, because they want to know the true range of their creative potential.
Most of all, they want to bring their work into
a world aching for its boldness and beauty.
is happening, not just how to patch it.
than ego accessories.
They’re willing to sit with discomfort, so what’s ready to shift can finally shift.
But if you’re ready to explore how personality conditioning might be
blocking your creative, Artist Identity…
If you’re ready to work with someone who listens with kindness to what’s
behind the curtain, and reflects back with support and care…
If you’re ready to understand what’s holding you back and why the formulas
fall flat, so your work can be in the world and for the world…
This is my work.
This is the Creative Tree I sit under.
And every artist who joins me nourishes the full length of its roots.
Ariane has changed my life. Because of her encouragement and coaching I have started studying with a teacher and mentor and will be sculpting full time in a few years when I wind down my “current” professional career.
I wish I had met Ariane sooner; she is nothing short of amazing!
~ Jeffrey Breslow, sculptor and former CEO of Big Monster Toys
The surprise was in something else altogether: that having Ariane help me refine my concepts through language ended up helping me to create and develop my work even further.
Helping artists to successfully use language to support their work is one of Ariane’s specialties and her assistance changed everything about how I market my sculpture.
Her professional coaching has been one of the most valuable additions I have found for my art business since I first started selling my work nearly four decades ago, so important that I am now retaining Ariane as a coach for a second year.

The artist identity territory
we’ll explore together
Pulling Through by Lydia Grey
This work follows what’s alive in you.
where your art and your Artist Identity meet.
Your Artistic Fingerprint
Identifying and articulating what makes your work unmistakably yours is a high like no other.
Not as a marketing ploy, but as a living understanding of the signature elements that radiate› through everything you create.
And why noticing, naming, and claiming these elements matters at every level of your practice.
The Inner Critic’s Architecture
We’ll explore how self-doubt shows up in your process.
We don’t want to stamp it out. We want to understand its patterns; where it distracts and where it’s useful.
This work can transform your relationship with your inner critic, turning them from a prosecutor into a trusted adviser, with better lighting and an updated job description.
Your Creative Sovereignty
around your creative life.
the vital pulse of your vision.
are drowning out the pure knowing of your Creative Self,
and the vitality of your artistic authority.
Trust in Your Artistic Practice
We’ll cultivate trust in your creative process, even when uncertainty and doubt rumble beneath the surface.
You’ll develop an internal compass that can sense when to push, when to soften, and when to let something ripen at its own pace.
Creative Authority and Choice-Making
We’ll strengthen your ability to choose from creative
authority rather than external pressure or internal conditioning
The whole idea is for your decisions to become intentional,
aligned, and self-generated.
The Relationship Between Who You Are and What You Make
your artistic practice.
Not as biographical content, but as invisible forces shaping your relationship to your work:
subject matter, style, and process.
Then, your choices can flow from conscious intention, instead of unconscious refrains
that have been living rent free for far too long.
Your Internal Creative Landscape of Aliveness
I always felt that “seeking the meaning of life” was a misplaced truism.
Then I discovered Joseph Campbell, who asserted:
Humans are not seeking the meaning of life.
We are seeking the experience of being alive.
Aliveness is a lived reality.
You can assign meaning to your work, or not.
But aliveness arrives with a steaming cup of tea and buttery crumpets,
whole and unannounced.
The warm cup in your hands, crumbs on your fingertips.
Aliveness guides you
towards that unmistakable
Yes! leading
into your
creative landscape…
Where your art is
breathing again, so now Where your art is
breathing again,
so now you can too.
I ground this work in where you are
and what you want for your artistic practice
right now.
If you’re wrestling with pricing,
we’ll explore what’s beneath
that struggle.
If your artist statement feels flat, I’ll show you how to listen for what your work actually wants to say.
If you want another gallery, we’ll figure out what steps to take.
Your relationship to your work
The scope of your artistic promise
And your evolving Artist Identity
The beating heart of this work follows what’s most alive, and ready to shift,
in your artistic practice, so you know how to clear away any debris
dimming the truth of your Artist Identity and the vision you hold for your work.
Here are the Four-Quadrants of Your Artist Identity Conversation
to engage the deepest core of who you are as an artist…
Support and elevate your artistic fingerprint (aka your artistic voice)
Strengthen your internal awareness, of your Creative Self, who knows how to
navigate from uncertainty to grounded confidence
Establish sustainable, reliable, grounded trust in your artistic practice

Artist Identity anchors itself in daily practice. Seriously cool.
Working with you, Ariane, has been brilliant, uncanny, a mysterious kind of spirit collaboration, which is the real work. I could never work with someone who only did the marketing and business.
You’re awesome for brainstorming, too; and that’s what I’m noticing about you: you have two things that are really super-good for me:
No.1 has been a groundedness. I notice that I have more of a scheduling mind now. I’m like, OK, so how do I spend my time, and how do I do the… I have laser purpose now.
No.2 is the brainstorming, and what we did today. It’s like, Wow! OK,
I have somebody to bounce stuff off of, who is a visionary.
And those two very powerful and esoteric things have been… like, if somebody said
‘What does she do for you?’
I’d be like, ‘Oh, my God. What hasn’t she done for me? She organized me, but she let me fly.’
~ Jeanne Bessette, painter

Show up fully for each living conversation, bringing curiosity, honesty, and your creative yearnings.
Your curiosity can arrive messy, sleepy, or caffeinated.
It all works.
Engage with the assignments between conversations, using them as tools to translate insight into action.
Reflect, notice, and note what arises in your creative life: thoughts, patterns, emotional reactions, and inspiration.
And jot things down before your brain decides it never said that

Because creative time is not about clocks.
Bring yourself courageously, ready to look beneath the surface, explore discomfort, play with the unknown, and lean into artistic growth.
Your commitment isn’t about perfection.
It’s about presence, curiosity, and willingness to meet yourself
and your art with honesty and care.
Even if old wounds show up, you’re willing to allow them
a place at the Table of Kindness

This work is both introspective and practical. It’s also a lot of fun.

Talking to Ariane is like opening a window on a beautiful day.
In the middle of a major life transition, I was easy prey for being taken advantage of.
Ariane listened carefully and then, with incredible insight, she gave me the tools I needed to figure out what was bogging me down.
I gained back the personal strength I thought I’d lost, gained respect from my boss, and got a raise! Now I’m painting in my studio with gusto and confidence. Thank you, Ariane, you have a wonderful gift.

- If you wish to cancel the entire four-month series, you may do so after our first conversation, and at least 48 hours before our second one. Your payment will be refunded minus the $500 preparation fee described under Refunds.
REFUNDS
The Artist Identity Conversations is a four-month, committed, relational container that begins with real work on my side.
The consistency of our meeting rhythm—and your place within it—is part of what creates safety, depth, and momentum in the work for both of us.
Before our first call, I prepare a deep dive into your artistic practice based on the Artistic Practice Overview you complete and send me. A $500 fee covers that preparation, and the Overview is yours to keep whether or not we continue.
Because of this:
- Refunds follow the cancellation window under Cancellations.
- The $500 cancellation fee covers administrative costs and my preparation for the first conversation: a deep dive into your artistic practice—past, present, and future—which also includes one of my proprietary templates for understanding your practice at any future point.
I understand how unpredictable life can be. If something unexpected or serious arises, please reach out. I’ll honor compassionate circumstance exceptions, so if something truly disastrous happens in your life during our work, no worries. I approach these moments with care, discernment, and flexibility… we’ll figure it out together.
If you’d like a taste of what artists experience
inside The Artist Identity Conversation, you can listen to three different mini-conversations, each between 20 to 30-minutes.
These pop-up sessions, where I’ve just met the artist, begin with the same question I ask every artist I work with: What’s holding you back?
What follows isn’t advice. It’s a living conversation—grounded, intuitive, and revealing—where clarity and self-trust begin to take root.
You’ll be taken to The Listening Room, a private page with full recordings, edited for sound quality and anonymity.
